To those of you who have visited us here to find news of the world of Go for Gold: We’re really sorry we’ve been so preoccupied – but now it’s time to break the radio silence. We have some news.

Firstly: Sille is no longer a part of the Go for Gold team but remains a dear, dear friend – and who knows? Maybe her glossy voice will come visit from time to time.

Secondly: Kenneth, Mads, Andreas and I remain and are fully at work collecting songs for an album to be recorded as soon as time allows it. So far 15 tracks have found their way to our list – now comes the hard process of sorting out the top tracks. Kind a like choosing your favorite of your kids.

Thirdly: We are very happy to announce that a long time follower of ours Anne Marie Taul de Neergaard have decided, that she would like to add Go for Gold to her awesome roster of her boooking agency 88 mph. We are awestruck to be alongside such great acts as Dråpe (NO), The Underground Youth (UK), Star Horse (S) and more. We are looking forward to playing gigs for you all under the 88 mph banner.

Best wishes

Kristian // Go for Gold

It’s late night. Even the constant noise of urban life in Copenhagen has some-what faded away. The only sound is the innner music…

So sorry guys: if we have seem absent-minded, but it has been a time of defining things. Defining what is old and what is gold – and through late nights, inspiration, youtube-sessions, beer-galore and other some-what insignifigant display of power, we have reahed the core of what makes us tick right now.

With an abundance of songs we begin the quest: ‘An album in the beginning of 2012′. Hope you all aprove.

Love

Kristian // Go for Gold

As rain covers Copenhagen once again, Go for Gold is showered in good news and new content for all you trapped indoors to explore.

Tim Panduro has finished our video for our EP – opener “No Patience”. A one take video swirling around us performing live from our beloved studio/home ‘Guldminen’. It was recorded on one long sunday and I can assure you, we were pretty beat when we got home. The video-feast doesn’t end here as we recorded one more video for another yet-to-be-recorded song.

Check out the video here:

Furthermore our EP has attracted attention from reviewers in the blog-o-sphere. Underlyd, Rockfreaks.net and Lydtapet have given the EP a spin and the review range from 70%, 7/10 and 4/6. Thank you to all reviewers – The feedback really means a lot!

Next weekend we’ll be turning our beloved Goldmine into a filmset, as we are making a video with a couple of our songs. We have joined forces with noise-enthusiast, director and friend Tim Panduro. His work as an videoartist counts among others INTELLIGENT_TEKKNO_MUSIC connaisseur FCAN and self acclaimed lunch punkers A Hound Ensemble - where he also can be seen molesting the guitar.

Also: We have added a show to the calendar. We will be returning to RUST at the 17′th of September, where will be presenting a few new songs. Check out the event at Facebook. Hope to see many of you there!

And stay tuned for live footage from our crib.

Blessings:

Kristian // Go for Gold

Allthough things have been silent here on our blog, summer has proven prosperous for golddiggin’ types like us. We have now fully moved in to our new studio, which we by the way have build almost entirely ourselves (with help from friends). Hammering up planks for the walls, Soundprofing the ceiling and much more have made this – ‘The goldmine Part deux’ – in to a cosy but more spacier place for us to indulge in making music. With the wooden walls, boxer piano and books on homebuild wodden shelves, the place almost resembles a westjutland vacation home. We’re thinking on having some sort of housewarming. Stay tuned for more on this.

Our EP has now had a few months out in the open and we have gotten a lot of great response from peers and professionals. Thank you to all of you hundreds (!!) of people, who have downloaded it. Remember that you can still get it for free in the upper right corner of this page for you and your friends (Sharing is caring, you know!).

Allthough this last month has been filled with mainly construction work + a few trips for bandmembers to places such as Roskilde, Nice, Monte Negro, Slovenia, Vesteräs, Skagen, Berlin and more, songwriting has found its’ place as well. And from the last couple of weeks in the rehersal room three new songs are now up and running – with more to come! In the following month we will record a few films with the help from friend Tim Panduro, with some of the new songs. We’re working on getting some concertdates this fall in mainly Aarhus and Copenhagen, but if you have an idea for another place for us to visit – feel free to write us!

So silent blog means busy days. Quite the paradox. Please return for more news, music, films and concertdates. We will be here. Promise.

So -  friends and visitors! – months of hard work is over and we hereby present the first sonic boom from Go for Gold. A five track EP with songs of memories, art and life in general. The five songs all have that in common that they each deal with moments and situations of transition. You know, the moments where you need to make a decision or a moment you maybe just want to be over! Maybe you’ve hurt someone or maybe you’ve experienced something that changed you! And in a way, the EP is a microcosm of our process making it:

The EP started to take shape in late 2010, were we decided on the first and most definite tracks to represent us – but actually the songs ‘A way of changing’ and ‘Roommates tale’ contain tracks recorded already last summer in Kirke Eskildstrup gravelpit – The epicentre of what would soon be Go for Gold – so in a way we’ve imagined it for a much longer time.

Recording picked up paze in between two concerts and everyday lives of us all. The days and nights were busy in our studio ‘Guldminen’ after we decided to record and produce it all our selves. Andreas’ drums, Kenneths bass, Me and Mads’ guitars – (western and electric), Sille’s pianos and keyboards and finally our voices began to outline the sound of it all.

These last months have been filled with making this EP into a thing of it’s own. Kenneth took on the massive task of mixing the whole thing which basically means, we almost haven’t seen him these two months – theese things take time and effort! Slowly but surely the recorded instruments were closing in on each other and with Kenneths ear and multi-coloured pencils the picture of Go for Gold was added more colour and coherence. While Kenneth was turning knobs and mixing, Mads and I went to visit our friend, the talented graphical designer and creative power center Birgitte Heide Sørensen, to work on a packaging for the EP. All gifts need good wrappings. A very exciting process:

So all in all I guess this EP is true DIY and we’re very proud of it – and as we feel that music should be screamed from a mountain top for all to hear, we’ve decided to give it away for free for you all to have, give and share (hence the facebook app!). Just click the banner in the upper right corner and it will be yours! Feel free to give us any kind of response – all feedbacks are welcome. We would love to hear, what you think. Most of all we just hope that you will listen to it and maybe hear a split of what we put into it.

As the sun of may is slowly scorching everything outside we, the golddiggers, are occupied in doors. First and foremost Kenneth is sweating and working hard on mixing our – still unnamed – forthcoming collection of songs; hearing the same kickdrums, guitar-walls of sound and vocals entangled in one another over and over again; making them sound unearthy but very much alive. Be sure to see us at Spot Festival, were we will be present handing out free copies for the ones interested. You guys are all in for a treat!

At the same time we are changing our address. After a little under a year in our faithful Goldmine at Amager, we have already out-grown it. Although if felt a little like cheating on your girlfriend, we starting searching elsewhere for a new place to indulge our lust for music. After a few bad dates and unfortunate phonecalls, true love came our way. So as of july we’re moving into the accommodations seen on the pictures above. It looks dark, but aren’t the best mines kind-a dark? The deeper you dig the darker it gets? Anyway – we will bring lights and bright ideas to this “THE GOLDMINE – Part deux (?)” – and you are always most welcome.

See you soon – and the best of days to you.

/Kristian – Go for Gold

This Friday – the 29′th that is – we will be playing at PH Cafeen as a part of OPSTART which is a subdivision of START Festival. Besides being a great way to spend a friday night, all the profits from this evening will go to support the social work on Vesterbro – the local neighborhood of PH Cafeen and START festival. Allthough we weren’t aware of this when we were asked to play, we’re glad to be a part of this, because Vesterbro is special to us – some of us even live there.

We hope you will join us in the cosy backroom that holds the great small stage of PH Cafeen. We will do our uttermost.

While all our endeavours are being summarised into a fullscale EP, we’ve decided to share some of the origins for what today is Go for Gold.

It started a dark monday evening last spring were I visited Mads & Kenneth to record a small track that had been cooking in my head for some time. Steady as a steam engine and filled with suspense “This is Art – this is SHIT” came to be. We all have our trembling beginnings on our narrow paths in finding ourselves – “This is Art – This is SHIT” was the first step of Go fo Gold – Now for you all to hear:

Go for Gold has become much more and we are eagerly recording and finishing it all to show to the world. Stay tuned for more news in that matter
